About the Pangaea Network

The Pangaea Network coordinates the work of FIDE, GTUC, and Pangaea in the U.S. and in Africa. In the U.S., it concentrates on raising money, finding international partners, and investigating appropriate technology.

Pangaea’s responsibilities are to:

  • Learn what Pangaea Ghana and FIDE Ghana need, and help;
  • Help make the solar light campaign successful;
  • Help FIDE Ghana as it finds new needs to meet;
  • Help FIDE Ghana find suitable vendors for the products they want to make available;
  • Help find international partners for Pangaea and FIDE Ghana, e.g., U.S. and Canadian universities, governmental and nongovernmental agencies that can support;
  • Make contact on behalf of FIDE Ghana with religious groups in the richer nations that might be willing to work with us and support that work;
  • And, importantly: raise funds for the cause.

The founders of the Pangaea Network are Dr. Steve Eskow and Ms. Sarah Blackmun. They serve as Chair of the Board and President, respectively. Dr. Bill Allaway serves as a Board member and Vice President.  Mr. John Soule and Ms. Frances Soule are, respectively, the Chief Technical Officer and the Secretary/Treasurer.

Building a strong, diverse, international Board of Directors is a priority for Pangaea.

The Pangaea Network is a not-for-profit corporation in the state of California. It has applied to the IRS and the California Franchise Tax Board for tax-exempt status.

The Pangaea Name and Logo

"Pangaea," meaning "all lands," is the name given to the Earth's land mass when it was unified into one super-continent, some 200 million years ago, before it separated into today's seven continents through movement of the earth's plates.

Our logo shows the original land mass before the continents drifted apart. We use it to symbolize that the Earth and its peoples can again be united through communications technologies.
